Description

This presentation offers an introduction to Generative A.I., for educators that have little experience with AI, but would like to learn to incorporate this tool into what they are already doing. This session will focus on Google Gemini, and its practical applications in education. Participants will learn how A.I. can assist in various teaching tasks, including lesson planning, intervention for students, and assessment creation thereby freeing up time for more individualized student interaction.

In addition, this presentation will address common concerns about A.I. replacing teachers, reassuring the audience that A.I. is intended as a tool to enhance, not replace, human educators and can be incorporated into your daily routine.

A significant portion of the session will involve hands-on practice with Gemini. Participants will navigate the Gemini interface, learn to craft effective prompts, and explore features of Gemini like multiple drafts, audio playback, and prompt modification. Participants will actively engage in creating lesson plans and assessments, using Gemini. We will end the session by discussing ethical considerations, defining what constitutes cheating with A.I. and the importance of teaching students how to use this tool responsibly.

Throughout the session, participants are encouraged to ask questions, explore the technology, and consider how to integrate these practical applications and ideas into their instructional practices.
